“The power transition isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s vital,” states Mehul Mehta, CIO of GREC, emphasizing the significance of investing in renewable power tasks. “We’ve hit a essential juncture the place it’s important to scale the power transition with tasks like this sooner slightly than later.”

Greenbacker bought the photo voltaic farm from developer HESP Solar in late 2021. HESP and native officers spent a number of years coordinating efforts to make the land appropriate for redevelopment and rework it right into a functioning photo voltaic farm.

“This was a blighted property that was was an impressive challenge to the good thing about our residents,” feedback Mt. Arlington Mayor Michael Stanzilis. “It brings clear power to the folks in our borough, and it places a reimbursement into taxpayers’ pockets.”

For the reason that photo voltaic power challenge started producing energy for the borough – with whom Greenbacker has a long-term energy buy settlement – it has generated over 1.3 GWh of unpolluted power, abating 971 metric tons of carbon. That’s roughly equal to the emissions from consuming 110,000 gallons of gasoline or burning 1.1 million kilos of coal.

Over the previous couple of years, Greenbacker has partnered with HESP on 17 renewable power tasks. Ten of them are in New Jersey.
